CIOB- The future depends on future skills.

Chartered Institute of Building’s annual skills survey show that the industry is suffering from a skills shortage despite the recession and subsequent downturn in construction demand.

The lack of apprentice recruitment is emphasised by 67% as the biggest threat to the future skills agenda.

Furthermore, 52% of the sample reported that the recession has resulted in a decline in apprentice recruitment.

Insufficient education about construction at school-level was reported by 47% of respondents as the second-biggest threat to the future skills agenda, while an ageing workforce was underlined by 46% as the third-biggest threat.

Michael Brown CIOB Deputy Chief Executive said, “Future investment for the industry is clearly essential.

But it will be pointless if we do not have a skilled industry capable of delivering projects, and that means the industry must find ways of retaining, developing and recruiting its future human capital.

Respondents called for apprenticeship and graduate schemes to be aimed specifically at the industry.

Construction Element have achieved the first stepping stone to becoming more environmentally aware on all our construction sites. We have already achieved the Bronze award are well on the way to achieveing Sliver status by complying with all new recycling laws and also implementing new ideas to help the environment.

ATC Solutions Office fit out.

Construction Element have been contracted by clients agent to fit out their new 2500 ft square office on the 5th Floor of 52/54 Gracechurch Street London. As ATC Solutions are expanding we have been appointed to help them bring their office solutions to house their ever growing work force. The works will consist of glazed partitioning, teapoint , meeting areas, AV & Data points and Electrical & Mechanical services. Watch out for our project page on completion date.

CHAS Accreditation.

Construction Element has achieved status of CHAS accrediation complying with various assessments with our Health & Safety procedures. We will now be registered on there database for clients to view our company information in accordance with have we procure, manage and implement all our projects from concepts to completions.

Kyashii London Refurbishment.

Construction Element have completed the refurbishment of Kyashii London in Upper St Martins Lane. We Project Managed and procured various fields of construction and fit out. There where many challenging issues on site due to some poor standards of work when it had originally been fitted out. We managed the Project Management, Clerk of works, new Sushi bar, New VIP dining area and general maintenance issues that where needed to be corrected. We also organised some O & M Manuals for the restautrant as the previous contarctor had not organised any of these.

Completion of Isobels’ Meeting Facilities Fit out.

Construction Element has recently completed the fit out of Isobel Advertising new meeting facilities at there head office in New Cavendish Street , London. Works consisted of glazed partitioning, stud walls, M&E services, painting & decorating, Audio Visual, data cabling and new bespoke furniture. We worked with Isobels design team to create a very bespoke and stylish new areas that bring Isobel to the fore front of there market. Take a look at our project page for images.

Sherard Road Medical Centre Fit Out.

Construction Element have been appointed main contractor to supply Sherard Road Medical Centre in Eltham South East London a new look for 2010. Working alongside Yoop Architects we will be creating a fantastic new revamp which will providing patients, practitioners and receptionists with a fresh inspiring working environment. Watch out for February completion.
